YOU CAN CALL US THE LAVENDER MENACES

WHO'VE WE GOT HERE THEN?
Director of Photography
Jacinta Oaten
Photographer/Videographer

Quick history lesson: lesbian feminists in the 70s were super badass. They reclaimed the once derogatory name, a "Lavender Menace", for their own - lavenders then became a symbol for the LGBTQIA+ movement and liberation post-Stonewall.
So it's truly fitting for our all-queer team!

HOW THE
LAVENDER
HAZE
CAME TO BE
Hiya! I'm Jacinta Oaten, a photographer and filmmaker. I’ve been capturing lovers ever since I realised just how rewarding being responsible for other's cherished memories is. To get down to it, my first ever wedding was back in 2010! There’s nothing like seeing the joy that radiates from people when they receive their wedding gallery. After marriage equality passed, I was saddened by still hearing couples' negative experiences before finding me to capture their wedding. I really wanted to create an incredible wedding service that's totally inclusive and a visibly safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community, which is why I'm out here leading The Lavender Haze, an all-queer team providing incredible photo and video coverage for all couples!
